The developers state that each level is "designed to educate and illustrate Biblical truth" and justify the choice of the player to play as either an exalted or fallen angel as the "gift of free will" from God. The War in Heaven features 12 levels of both domains and weapons unique to each side of the conflict such as swords, claws, slings, darts, spears, forks and spells, good and evil. Played from a first-person perspective in animated 3D environments, you must choose either the Fallen Path of Power and follow Lucifer in his attempt to storm the gates of Heaven or the Divine Path of Obedience and repel his attempted coup.
It's at this point that you, playing as either a Devine or Fallen immortal angel, must join the fight. There, he is destined to rule in Hell until the Tribulation and Final Battle between good and evil.
The story predates the dawn of man and focuses on a point of time when Lucifer rebels against the Almighty and is defeated and exiled from Heaven.
